There’s such recency bias in fandom. As an author you post something, get a few reactions, and then it goes off into the bin. As a reader you check the tags, see what’s new, and move on. But a lot of old stuff is really good. It’s just sitting there, gathering dust, waiting for someone to take a peek.
this is why you gotta keep track of what you’re doing. I changed something with the properties last time I made a video and it was perfect idk what I did though 😭 and now I can’t recreate it.
let me tell you something if you’re a creative person who’s afraid of posting because it might not get the recognition you hope for.
do it anyway, alright it’ll get 11 or 30 notes or hits on ao3. 100 at most. now imagine all those people coming up to you individually, to tell you they like your art, your edit, your poem, your fic. I bet that you’d feel such overwhelming love.
but here’s something else- do it for future you. post it for the future you who will stumble upon it again and rediscover how happy you felt creating, future you who has lost the spark maybe or future you who’ll look back and think wow I had so much fun throughout the years growing in my craft. post it so you can show your friends you’ll make later down the road
post it so you have tangible memories of all the things you’ve loved through the years.
